Cute Baby Goats

They are baby goats! They are cute! I actually submitted this photograph to CuteOverload, with the following description:

I took this photograph a couple of weeks ago while taking a walk in the little village of Rongy in the far southern portion of the Belgian countryside. I saw plenty of cows, sheep, chickens, and horses, but, when I saw these baby goats, I nearly fell over from the cute. These kids were so tiny! And they were smiling at me! Plus, one of them is showing his little white /teeth/. If that isn't an overload of cute, I'm not sure what is. :)

We'll see if they actually post it. (I'll let you know.)

Oh, and this time you can see a bigger version of the image just by clicking on the one you see here. :)

A Snail's Pace

Hi! It's me again! I know that I haven't posted anything in nearly a week, but I have a good excuse: First my connection died, you see, and then my hard drive had some sort of crisis (as predicted by Kevin weeks ago, mind you). Add a healthy does of Life's New and Interesting Challenges, and...well, you know how these things come in piles.

Anyway, I finally was able to upload a new picture! This stylish orange snail was found on a stone wall in the Woluwe-Saint Lambert community of Brussels (one of my favourite areas here). Actually, there were yellow ones as well, but I'm not sure if I like the way those photos came out. This one is okay, however, I believe. And I hope you like it as well!

Snails make good photography subjects because they. move. very. slowly. if. at. all. I just love the orange. :)

See the full-sized image in my Deviant Gallery, as usual. Thanks for coming by!

Trapped

Well haven't I been industrious lately! This latest upload to my gallery is different than anything I've ever tried before. Usually, I make it a point to modify my photographs as little as possible. My typical editing includes cropping, adjusting the Brightness/Contrast and sometimes fiddling with the Hue/Saturation levels. Oh, of course, I often add a border just for fun.

But this time, I added a picture to my picture. And a picture to the picture which is in my picture. And, actually, if you look really closely, there's a picture in the picture that's in the picture in my picture. How about that!

As for the rest, it's just -50 Saturation and a bit of fun fiddling with the "grain" filter.

The result is the emotive portrait that you see here. I actually really like how this turned out. It is sad, yet dimly colourful. The obvious point is to portray a negative, unpleasant emotion, and yet there is an undeniable radiance that, to me, conveys a sense of hope.

You can check out the full size image in my gallery, as usual. (Be sure to click on the image that appears to see the full 600x800 resolution version.)

I've put a particularly great amount of effort into this one, so I'd really appreciate your thoughts and comments. Thank you!

Nobody's Home

Abandoned buildings have always held a certain fascination for me. I imagine the history of them, wondering who lived in these now derelict places, who loved there. There were so many everyday actions that filled this place with life. Children playing. Breakfast cooking. A woman singing as she brushed out her hair.

From the condition of this house, I would say that it hasn't been empty for more than five or so years. The roof seems to be in pretty good shape and nature has only begun to reclaim this space for its own. I suspect the building itself is probably almost a hundred years old. It's located in the extreme northern border of France, just south of the tiny Belgian village of Rongy. You can see the full-sized photo, as usual, in my Deviant Art Gallery.

I wish somebody would feel inspired to take care of this place again, and make it once more into a home. It seems so cozy and quaint, filled with the echoes of many happy memories.

More Flowers

Yet another picture of flowers for my Deviant Art Gallery. What can I say? It's spring, and the flowers are so very pretty.

Did you know that you too could have a Deviant Art account? Just go to the main page and follow the applicable links. It isn't just a place for photography. They welcome poetry, short stories, artisenal crafts, sculpture, painting, sketches, computer graphics and...pretty much anything. You can even just use it for snapshots of your friends. :)

My only complaint about the site is that it's too large and all-encompassing for it's own good. It's hard to get a lot of page views when fifty-two thousand other people are uploading their work at the same time. But I am grateful for a free, easy-to-use place to upload my photography. You might find it worth your while to have a look. :)

The Magic Number 101

I'm making this post to commemorate 101 visits to my blog (not including my own visits, of course). Thank you so much for coming to read my words and see my pictures! Now, if only I would receive a comment or three... ;)

No, really. Thank you all very much for your support. I hope you will continue to find my entries interesting enough to return on a regular basis. Have a good Thursday!

Newest Gallery Post

My newest upload to my Deviant Art Gallery is this delicate pink flower that I found while out walking the other day. Please have a look. I am always delighted to read your comments. They are inspiration for future photographs.

My Newest Crochet Project

It took me long enough!

I started this doiley about the same time I started the blue shawl, in January, while visiting the US. Size 8 thread, 1.5mm hook (which should usually be a 1mm hook, but for that I crochet far more tightly than could ever be necessary). Anyway, this project, through my own apparent inability to count, has caused me no end of difficulties. With all my undoing and redoing and undoing and redoing yet again, accented by some remarkably colourful language, I must have done enough crochet work for a second doiley of similar proportions. I guess it's all part of the learning process!

It never ceases to amaze me, really, what can be accomplished with a ball of string and a small metal hook.

New Deviant Art Upload

It's me again! Here's the thumbnail for my newest upload to Deviant Art. It was an experiment with a glamour-style self-portrait. Please feel free to view the high-resolution version in my gallery. As usual, I welcome creative criticism and gentle encouragement.
