Nobody's Home

Abandoned buildings have always held a certain fascination for me. I imagine the history of them, wondering who lived in these now derelict places, who loved there. There were so many everyday actions that filled this place with life. Children playing. Breakfast cooking. A woman singing as she brushed out her hair.

From the condition of this house, I would say that it hasn't been empty for more than five or so years. The roof seems to be in pretty good shape and nature has only begun to reclaim this space for its own. I suspect the building itself is probably almost a hundred years old. It's located in the extreme northern border of France, just south of the tiny Belgian village of Rongy. You can see the full-sized photo, as usual, in my Deviant Art Gallery.

I wish somebody would feel inspired to take care of this place again, and make it once more into a home. It seems so cozy and quaint, filled with the echoes of many happy memories.
